More power from a downsized electric motor. Less noise with increased cooling capacity. The demands from users have often contradicted engineering possibilities. However, once the targets became clear, we, SHIBUYA, have made every effort to knuckle down to achieve them. The keyword is "NO COMPROMISE" believing that we can overcome the difficulties without sacrificing anything. TS-132(R1511) & TS-162(R1521/R1522) are our solutions as the ideal middle class core drilling machines for professional drilling in the application range of 60mm to 180mm diameter. WEIGHT REDUCTION Advanced molding technology, pressurized die-casting and plastic injection have helped the weight reduction of external parts. To attain weight reduction of the gearbox, holes are drilled in every possible gear wheel. The slip discs for the clutch are now located in the recess of a gear wheel. The spindle shaft has a hollow to reduce the weight. In this way, the downsizing of the gearbox and the weight reduction is obtained. We have achieved this with 'No Compromise' to the durability. The gears are machined for weight reduction, but the module size of the gears remains same. Thus the weight of the R1511 motor becomes 5.9Kg. The weight for the 2-speed motors, R1521 and R1522, is 6.9Kg. NEW CONCEPT COLUMN Our testing has lead to the development of a new type of column called the HYBRID COLUMN. The outer shell of the column is made of thin 1.6mm thick extruded steel tube while the inner core is constructed of high quality aluminum adding strength and rigidity. The benefits are also in weight reduction and wear resistance. Thanks to the high durability of the steel against wear, metal guide rollers can be used for the carriage. The metal guide rollers offer more rigidity than that of plastic rollers or plastic sliding plates. The steel outer shell decreases the oscillation caused by vibration from the core bit. The strong aluminum profile of the special double H section provides reinforcement ensuring rigidity and accuracy of the column in all drilling situations LESS NOISE WITHOUT SACRIFICING COOLING CAPACITY The noise level achieved with these models is 84db(A) at no load. At this level, the cutting sounds from the core-bit will often exceed the sounds of the motor. Not only has the noise level been reduced, the actual tone of the motor is also tuned. In order to achieve 84db(A) with 'No compromise' to the cooling capacity, a new design plastic cooling fan is used and the opening for the air inlet is enlarged. Advanced plastic injection technology has made it possible to design the inside of the motor enclosure to direct all available air to the components that must be kept cool. All gears used are helical to add strength and to minimize gear noise MORE POWER FROM A DOWNSIZED ELECTRIC MOTOR AND REDUCED ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION Research has shown that surplus power is one of the solutions to ensuring the durability of the motor. For this class of drilling motor we set the maximum rated input as 1500W. This ensures the motor will operate efficiently on all site and domestic power supplies. The concept of power is often misunderstood. It is often assumed that the value of rated input power is the actual power produced. But this is totally wrong. What is really important is the amount of torque at the spindle. To get more spindle torque from a motor of limited electric capacity, both the friction and moments of inertia are created through the weight of the moving parts. In our new concept drill motors, the armature specifications have been reviewed thoroughly. The reduction in weight of the new cooling fan and gearwheels has raised the revolution speed of armature. The new type of low viscosity lubricant also works to reduce the friction. The raised revolutions of the armature allow us to increase the reduction ratio. The new R1511 and R1521/R1522 motors produce a spindle torque of almost the same level as our previous M1718 motor at 1700W and exceeds the spindle torque of M1718 at the input of 1600W. Further durability is achieved by running a 1500W overload switch, using surplus power as a safety margin to extend the life of armature
